Skip the rinse

#SkipTheRinse

Every time we pre-rinse our dishes, we can waste up to 20 gallons of water. Together we can save up to 150 billion gallons of water*. That’s billions. With a B. With Finish, you can Skip the Rinse.

Gallons Saved So Far

When you pledge to Skip the Rinse, Finish will donate $1 to the Nature Conservancy, and your household could save up to 2,995 gallons of water per year.

Between July 1, 2020 and December 31, 2022 Finish will contribute $1 to The Nature Conservancy for every #SkiptheRinse pledge taken on the Finish website for a minimum contribution of $100,000 and a maximum contribution of $400,000. The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to conserve the lands and water on which all life depends. More information about the Conservancy is available by mail at 4245 N. Fairfax Drive, Arlington Virginia 22203, by phone at (800) 628-6860 or at www.nature.org.

Last Drop Trailer

On this World Water Day, Finish together with its storytelling partner National Geographic is proud to launch “The Last Drop” featuring actor Adrian Grenier, a documentary on how we can conserve water and ensure sustainable water supplies in the future.

40 of 50 States Face a Water Crisis

Government-backed research predicts serious water shortages across the United States. Many water supplies may be reduced by 1/3 in the coming years. We need to start saving now. As our population increases, we will use more and more water, with less and less to go around.

Only .007% of the world's water is usable.

TRUE!

Freshwater makes up only 2.5% of the world’s water supply. Only 1% of that is easily accessible. A little math tells us that only .007% of the planet’s water is available to fuel and feed 6.8 billion people. **

WATER DEMAND IS EXPECTED TO GROW BY 55% BY 2050.

TRUE!

The Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development expects the world population to grow to 9.2 billion people by 2050. These people will require more farmland and more energy, and more water. A lot more. ***

INDIVIDUAL WATER USAGE HAS INCREASED IN LOS ANGELES.

FALSE!

Los Angeles has grown by a million people since the 1970s but still uses the same amount of water. Faced with years of severe drought, residents have cut back to make sure that there is enough to go around. ****

MORE WAYS TO SAVE

If we all adopt these six simple habits, we can make a huge difference.
